Doi

What is a DOI?

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a unique and permanent alphanumeric code assigned to digital publications such as research articles, book chapters, or datasets. It serves as a stable identifier, ensuring that a publication can always be accurately located and accessed, even if its web address (URL) changes.

At the International Journal of Advanced Research in Computer Science & Technology (IJARCST), every published article is assigned a DOI that is officially registered with CrossRef, a globally recognized DOI registration agency. This guarantees that all IJARCST publications are citable, traceable, and permanently accessible within academic and research communities worldwide.

Structure of a DOI

A DOI is composed of two parts: a prefix and a suffix, separated by a forward slash (/).

Example:
DOI:  10.15662/IJARCST.2025.0805001

1. Prefix – 10.15662

· The prefix is assigned by the registration agency (e.g., CrossRef).

· It identifies the publisher or the journal.

· The “10” indicates the DOI directory.

· The “15662” is the unique identifier for the publisher of IJARCST.

2. Suffix – IJCTECE.2025.0804001

· The suffix is created by the publisher to uniquely identify each article.

· It typically includes:

Journal abbreviation (e.g., IJARCST)

Year of publication (e.g., 2025)

Volume and issue numbers (e.g., 07 for Volume 8, 05 for Issue 5)

Unique article number (e.g., 001)

Together, the prefix and suffix create a globally unique digital fingerprint for every publication.

Key Benefits of DOI

·  Permanence – A DOI guarantees a permanent and reliable link to your article, ensuring accessibility even if the journal’s website or URL changes.

·  Citation Reliability – Widely recognized across citation styles such as APA, MLA, IEEE, and Chicago, DOIs ensure accuracy and consistency in scholarly references.

·  Enhanced Discoverability – By enabling seamless indexing in academic databases and digital libraries, DOIs significantly improve the visibility and reach of published research.

·  Scholarly Credibility – The presence of a DOI reflects formal publication, official registration, and global recognition within the academic research ecosystem.

·  Interoperability – Integrated with CrossRef and other metadata systems, DOIs facilitate smooth citation linking and cross-referencing across journals, publishers, and digital platforms.
